Motion Control and Lighting

Various mechanisms are used in vehicles to transmit and control movement. One of these mechanisms is wires. Wires are used to transmit motion from one place to another.

Lighting System

The lighting system is necessary to ensure night vision. It consists of two main parts: exterior and interior lighting.

Exterior Lighting

Exterior lighting provides the driver's night vision by illuminating the surroundings of the vehicle. Exterior lighting consists of headlights, parking lights, stop lights, turn signals, rear license plate light, reversing light, hazard warning flashers and fog lights.

  • Headlight: It is the lamp that illuminates the front of the vehicle.
  • Parking lights: Lamps that illuminate the sides and rear of the vehicle.
  • Stop lights: These are the lights that indicate that the vehicle is slowing down or stopping.
  • Turn signals: These are the lamps that indicate that the vehicle wants to change direction.
  • Rear license plate lamp: It is the lamp that illuminates the license plate at the back of the vehicle.
  • Reversing lamp: It is the lamp that indicates that the vehicle is in reverse gear.
  • Hazard warning lights: These are the lights that indicate that the vehicle is malfunctioning or in danger.
  • Fog lamps: Lamps used to improve visibility in foggy weather.

Interior Lighting

Interior lighting provides visibility to the driver and passengers by illuminating the environment inside the vehicle. Interior lighting consists of ceiling lamps and indicator lamps.

  • Ceiling lights: These are the lamps that illuminate the interior of the vehicle.
  • Indicator lights: Show vehicle speed, fuel level, engine temperature, etc. These are the lamps that show information.

Electrical Systems

In addition to transmitting and controlling movement, vehicles also contain various electrical equipment. The electricity required for the operation of these equipment is provided by the battery. The battery meets the electricity needs of the vehicle when it is not moving. The alternator meets the electrical needs of the vehicle while it is in motion. The alternator converts the kinetic energy it receives from the engine into electrical energy.

The basic parts of electrical systems are:

  • Battery: It is the tank that meets the electrical needs of the vehicle.
  • Alternator: It converts the kinetic energy it receives from the engine into electrical energy.
  • Starter motor: It is the engine used to start the engine.
  • Fuse box: It contains fuses that prevent short circuits that may occur in electrical circuits.
  • Plugs and sockets: These are the parts that connect electrical circuits.

Maintenance of Lighting and Electrical Systems

Lighting and electrical systems are systems that require regular maintenance for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle. Maintenance of these systems includes the following:

  • Checking the battery voltage and changing it if necessary.
  • Checking the alternator and replacing it if necessary.
  • Check the starter motor and replace it if necessary.
  • Checking fuses and replacing them when necessary.
  • Checking plugs and sockets and replacing them when necessary.

Maintenance of lighting and electrical systems should be done by an expert technician.
